Gilfach margam mountain

Highlight was a single Teal that flew up from pond at the bodvic stone area in forestry, the bird flew around in a loop before dropping down into boggy pools that have formed in the clear fell, also 8 Snipe flushed from the same area, other birds were Fieldfare 24+30, Buzzard 4, Great spotted woodpecker 1, Starlings 300+, Rook 9, Raven 5, a large flock of 20+ Coal tit with a single Goldcrest amonst them working their way through the small conifers near the pine crossing behind margam, Peregrine 1 over the green fields, Meadow pipits  20+, Bullfinch 2, Mistle thrush 5, still no sign of great grey shrike despite good search of the area, and no sign of any crossbill which is dissapointing, is the felling of the trees having a affect on the birds?

llangynwyd sewage works

200+ mixed flock of crows, jackdaws, carrion crow and raven, lots of long tailed tit flying about in small flocks along the river with a couple of goldcrest, usual pied wagtails in the sewage works with 2 grey wagtail on the river, no sign of dipper as the river level was very high, 1 peregrine over my house as i left, 2 buzzard, 1 sparrowhawk, siskin were in the alders next to the road, inside the sewage works were 1 moorhen, 2 chiffchaff, 1 redwing, 1 mistle thrush singing.

A day at the feeders

Too wet to get out and about so decided to visit Mr Parsons feeding station in Llangynwyd.
Birds visiting the feeders were: Chaffinch, Robin, Jay, Great spotted woodpecker, Dunnock, Blue, Great and Coal tits, Wren, Nuthatch. Other birds of note were a peregrine that circled over and landed on pylon, raven, buzzard and 6 pied wagtail, mallard calling from river.

4 Waxwings over Macgregor Row @ 09:05, roughly the same time as my other sightings, they were heading South this morning in roughly the same direction as my original sighting a few weeks back

                                    the school fields, 6 Redpoll in Alder, 54 Fieldfare over
                                    east and a flock of Long tailed tit and a pair of Goldcrest.

Kenfig saltmarsh & Kenfig rivermouth

Bearded tits heard but not seen, cetti's heard, also present; wigeon, pintail, mallard, mute swan, canada goose, stonechat, teal, reed bunting, robin, magpie, cormorant, carrion crow, blackbird, redpoll, greenfinch, goldfinch, blue tit, bh gull, lbb, gull, gbb gull, common gull, skylark, meadow pipit, chaffinch, goldcrest, long-tailed tit, redwing, fieldfare, coot, moorhen, water rail and snipe.

Maesteg Cemetery

Quiet around the cemetery area, most of the life was in the cemetery (bird life) that is, lots of thrushes that included blackbirds, song thrush, mistle thrush, a few of the common tits, many greenfinches, siskin, nuthatch, female blackcap, and 1 red kite.
