Llangynwyd sewage works

A stroll down to the sewage works to see if there are any signs of sand martin or swallows arriving but unfortunately there were no signs yet so i decided to check the lesser celandine in the woods for hoverflies. There was a single tree with sallow on it producing numerous Eristalis species which would come down to rest on the open ground below along with Cheilosia species (albipila and grossa albipila being new to the valley and also i think grossa also). There were a lot of Platycheirus albimanus feeding on the lesser celandine along with a single Episyrphus balteatus followed by my first sighting and new addition to the valley Melangyna lasiophthalma.
